The Client - Florida Fine Cars (Our client since 2016)

About Our Client

Florida Fine Cars sells previously owned luxury vehicles from three locations: Miami, West Palm Beach and Hollywood, Florida. The company stresses its fair, respectful and efficient service, and can boast a 90% customer retention rate.

Even though FFC has grown considerably since opening in 1993, the company's leaders work to maintain the small company culture and friendly, informal customer relationships they enjoyed during their earliest days. That commitment is reflected in their desire to use humorous On Hold Marketing.

The Production

This On Hold Marketing features several voices and a joyful music track. The humorous copy pokes fun at a few of the less-desirable aspects of car shopping, such as hidden charges and misleading ads.

The Client - Solair (Our client since 2012)

About Our Client

Solair creates shade solutions for homeowners, including retractable awnings, powers screens and vertical drop curtains. They sell their products through a network of retail distributors.

The company’s stylish website, Solair.com, features an awning visualizer that lets you see how the Solair awning of your choice will look on your house.

The Writer’s Thoughts

“Writing On Hold Marketing content for Solair is a different challenge because the target audience isn't the homeowners who will be using the products,” said Creative Consultant Bob Seybold. “The callers are distributors who carry Solair products, so we create content that promotes the reasons homeowners love Solair products.”

Seybold added that “time is money for these callers. We deliver information about practical and lifestyle benefits that makes it easier for them sell more Solair products.”

The Production

Each message in this production averages just over 14 seconds long. In fact, for most of our clients, we write concise copy. There are a few good reasons for that. This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The Client - Eaton Family Credit Union (Our client since 2003)

What They Do

With three offices in northeast Ohio, plus one each in Lincoln, Illinois and Searcy, Arkansas, Eaton Family Credit Union serves the financial needs of several groups, from employees of the Eaton Corporation and a few other companies to certain city and school district workers and select corporate partners.

Eaton FCU was founded in 1937. Today, the non-profit organization provides savings and investment vehicles, as well as lending options to its 13,000 members.

How This Work Is Different

Traditionally, banks and other financial institutions have presented themselves very conservatively. But it's important to remember that, no matter what a company does, people are its audience; real people with real emotions, fears, desires and needs. Even when they're calling a bank or credit union, people respond to good information delivered in a fun and/or interesting way.

This On Hold Marketing production combines energetic voiceovers and several music tracks with quick sound effects that lighten the mood and present Eaton's services in that fun way. It suggests very strongly to callers that their experience with Eaton will be friendly and enjoyable.

The Writer’s Thoughts

“The Eaton Family Credit Union brand identity is about personal service, convenience and the best value,” said Bob Seybold, the Creative Consultant who wrote the copy. “Our strategy is to provide real-life examples of how members can take advantage of all of Eaton’s services, whether it’s a mortgage, an auto loan, a home equity loan or a credit card, and their conveniences, such as web bill pay or mobile check deposit. The music and sound effects cue the caller's attention and complement the script.”

The Client's Thoughts

"We have been a client of BusinessVoice for many years, and we always look forward to hearing each quarterly production," wrote Eaton CEO Mike Losneck. "This one really makes our message pop with sound effects and background music that make it memorable."

The Client - Arrowwood Lodge (Our client since 2016)

What They Do

Arrowwood Lodge is a vacation destination in Baxter, Minnesota. The property includes an indoor water park, Baxter’s Bar and Grill, meeting facilities, and guest rooms that are so large they’re known as “cabins.”

An Interesting Story

Carolyn Bare is Arrowwood’s General Manager. When searching for an On Hold Marketing provider, she initially contacted another company that provided her with a custom OHM demo.

“Our [previous] on hold messaging was very ordinary; not at all what we wanted," Carolyn wrote. "We wanted something that would help guests remember us.”

After listening to the other company’s demo, Carolyn felt there was an opportunity to do more.

When the demo provider realized Carolyn was looking for something truly original, they suggested that she contact BusinessVoice.

Within a week, Arrowwood Lodge was our client and we began work on their first production.

The Production

We imagined Arrowwood’s callers listening in as someone flipped through the channels of a television. What callers hear are references to Arrowwood Lodge within quick snippets of various TV shows: newscasts, a cooking program, a game show, reality show, soap opera and others.

This Humor on Hold™ includes 14 voices, an array of sound effects, several music tracks, and the input of three writers.

The Client’s Comments

“This production absolutely fulfilled what we were looking for. We asked for something original, and you went above and beyond," wrote Carolyn.

“It was something that we had not heard before. We gave you free reign to do something unusual and fun, and you hit the nail on the head! The team that we have is great to work with and very attentive.”

Update (May 2017): Judges’ Comments

The judges at the 2017 MARCE Awards provided many nice comments on this production.

“Solid creative work. Good use of talent and production.”

“Great choice of a non-standard format to change up the On Hold experience! Excellent play on multiple different styles throughout the production!”

“Solid production, creativity and copy. I would feel entertained [with this] while on hold.”

The Client - Maman Corp. (Our client since 2015)

What They Do

Maman Corp. is an award-winning, woman-owned, full-service construction management team and general contractor in Palatine, Illinois.

The Writers’ Thoughts

Andrea Poteet: “Maman Corp. was looking for funny On Hold Marketing that highlighted very specific aspects of their business. In fact, they sought us out because of our Humor On Hold™. I’m so happy that they’re thrilled with what we did for them.”

Scott Greggory: “During our first creative discovery session with Maman’s head of marketing Megan Tinsley, we learned that she wanted to promote their female ownership and the fact that the pronunciation of their company name can throw people off a bit. Andrea and I worked together to present those and other topics in a fun way without diminishing the importance of either. It's exhilarating to be able to develop humorous content that addresses a client's serious needs."

The Client’s Comments

Megan was very excited when she heard this first On Hold Marketing production that we created for her team. “We love how the women-owned [aspect of our company] was mentioned without being too specific. It was done perfectly!” wrote Megan. And “the [phrase] ‘Get Mamanized’ - WE LOVE IT!”

The Production

Instead of music, we used a bed of construction-related sound effects under and between the messages. They almost give the feeling that we recorded the voiceover at an actual Maman Corp. job site. “We love the background sounds,” wrote Megan. “We feel like that is as much a part of our business as the words we are using! Thank you so much! Great job!”

The Client - MadAveGroup

The Goals

Our first goal with most Humor On Hold™ applications is to capture attention and encourage callers to listen actively. We want to create an unexpected and enjoyable experience that draws callers into the message. In this case, each message is about one of the many services that MadAveGroup provides.

We also want to deliver content that callers will remember fondly and, ideally, talk about with their friends. And since this On Hold Marketing was for our own company, we want it to serve as an example of the type of work we can create for other companies.

The Production

This effort included eight voices, a couple of short music tracks, and several sound effects. Twice in this On Hold Marketing production we took the unique approach of cross-fading those effects to transition from one message to the next.

The Writer's Thoughts

“This production features a few of my favorite elements,” said the writer Scott Greggory. “The two-person conversation is a great vehicle for conveying information in a fun way. The characters can also make it easier for the audience to engage with what’s being said.”

Greggory also enjoys transporting listeners with sound effects. “They can quickly take callers to the time or place you want them to be in. And they can be a great source of humor.”
