NOTES:

Effective Humor On Hold

Desiree Grosman handles the marketing for D&F Plumbing, Heating and Cooling in Portland, Oregon. She contacted us about creating funny On Hold Marketing for her family’s company because she liked our work.

After listening to our Humor On Hold samples online, Desiree wrote, “What I love about these is that they sprinkle in the benefits of choosing that company. So, they’re not just silly; they actually show the value in choosing those brands over their competitors in a fun way.”

A Flexible Program

Following our discovery sessions, we designed an On Hold Marketing program for Desiree that includes quarterly, 8-minute content updates, plus the addition of messages to promote D&F’s monthly specials. We also wrote and recorded a series of new Call Center Announcements for the company.

When Desiree saw the first script we wrote, she said, “Thank you so much for all this great copy. I think it’s really creative. I would’ve never even thought of some of these ideas. They were really fun and unique. Great balance.”

Our discovery also revealed that D&F was an ideal candidate for radio advertising. Though they’ve served the Portland area since 1927, they hadn’t used broadcast channels in years. And since they were about to launch their HVAC services within a few weeks, getting the word out to a wider audience was key.

Caller Feedback

Once D&F’s first Humor On Hold production was playing for a few days, Desiree sent us this note:

I got this awesome feedback from one of our call-takers.

“Hey, Desiree. I wanted to let you know, I’ve had two different customers let me know how much they enjoyed the new On Hold Marketing. I actually clicked back into a call and heard one woman giggling. I thought she was talking to someone else, but she was laughing saying how cute and funny the on hold audio was and how I should hear it if I haven’t.”
